Roxburgh Area

No matter the season there’s always a reason to take a walk of discovery in and around Roxburgh and the Teviot Valley.

The Roxburgh area has a rich gold mining history, the remnants of which can be discovered and explored on foot. Nowadays orcharding and farming are the dominant industries in this rich and fertile valley and there are walks that showcase brilliantly the natural patchwork and seasonal colours reflected in the many thousands of fruit trees.

Roxburgh Town and River Track

Before setting out on the Town and River Track, an easy one hour walk, grab yourself a map from the information centre so you can identify Roxburgh buildings of historical interest.

Bullock Track

The Bullock Track is a challenging five hour return hill loop track that rewards walkers with stunning and colour-charged views of the Teviot Valley, especially during Spring and Autumn.

Commissioners Track

Commissioners Track is an easy one hour return walk to the Roxburgh Dam. There are impressive schist bluffs, shaded areas and picnic tables so pack a hamper to enjoy along the way.

Grovers Hill

Grovers Hill is an easy 30 minute walk suitable for families. The track includes excellent views of the Clutha River and Roxburgh township, and there are several great fishing spots to stop at along the way.

Horseshoe Bend Track

Horseshoe Bend Bridge Walkway is a year-round, family-friendly walk over an historic swing bridge and through gold mining tailings.
