Spring

Spring is the season of new beginnings and celebration in!

Rising temperatures and blustery winds melt away the remnants of winter, warm the soil and bring on a flush of new growth across the countryside. A patchwork of pink, white and green cloaks the fertile valley floors as orchards of fruit trees burst forth, and the sombre grey hills come alive with pockets of soft green and purple. The occasional frost still strikes and frost sprinklers and ice-encased blossom buds are a typical springtime sight on orchards along with lambs and calves on surrounding farm land.

The growth cycle is once again in action and it’s time to shed most of your winter woollies and break free! Smell the blossom, smell the thyme and recharge in the gentle spring sunshine along with everyone else. The Alexandra Blossom Festival is a long-held community-wide celebration of Spring but you can honour in your own way every day this season of glorious growth.
