Heritage and Environment
There are a number of sources of funding available to support environmental and heritage projects, including those outlined below. The most appropriate source of funding will depend on the nature of your project and its geographic location.
National Funding
Community Conservation Partnership Fund
The Community Conservation Partnerships Fund - Pūtea Tautiaki Hapori (CCPF) is administered by the Department of Conservation. The purpose of the fund is to inspire and enable community-led conservation growth.
The fund has approximately $26 million dollars to distribute to community groups for priority conservation work over four years. The fund is directed at practical, on-the-ground projects. These projects will maintain and restore the diversity of our natural heritage and enable more people to participate in recreation, enjoy and learn from our historic places, and engage with and value the benefits of conservation. The more information about this fund, visit the Department of Conservation's website.
Regional Funding
Central Lakes Trust
One of the funding objectives of Central Lakes Trust is to 'support projects and organisations that preserve and promote the physical and cultural heritage of our region and that protect and enhance the environment in which we live'.
Visit the
Central Lakes Trust website to find out whether your heritage group is eligible for this fund.
Local Funding
Maniototo Community Board
The Maniototo Community Board has a promotions fund and within that fund, $5,000 per annum is earmarked for heritage projects within the Maniototo. The purpose of the fund is to help meet community needs/desires for events, facilities or activities that enhance experiences of locals and visitors.
