The Millers Flat / Ettrick Volunteer Fire Brigade was first established in 1967 and the fire station today is located in Railway Terrace in Millers Flat.
Our brigade consists of eighteen members, four of whom are Volunteer Operational Support. We all come from different working back grounds, farmers, orchardists, builders, mechanics, truck drivers and shop assistants, all bringing valuable hands on skills to our brigade.
The Millers Flat / Ettrick Volunteer Fire Brigade operates Pump Rescue Tender (PRT) our rescue tender services the Teviot Valley from Beaumont in South to Shingle Creek in the North, providing also an urban and rural fire service. Must of our brigade members are also active members of the Ettrick Rural Fire Party and we have on station a purpose built 4WD Rural Fire Appliance and a 4WD support vehicle.
Training is held on a weekly basis which is necessary to keep us up to date with the skills and requirements of the New Zealand and Rural Fire Services. We are dedicated team of men and women who utilize our skills to serve our community 24/7 Our mission is to reduce the incidence and consequence of fire and to provide a professional response to other emergencies.
