Police in Central Otago are committed to making our communities safer and working with our local community partners to prevent and reduce crime.
The Central Otago Policing Area covers a large rural area from Raes Junction on State Highway 8 in the south through to the Lindis Pass summit in the north, west on State Highway 6 to the Victoria Bridge towards Queenstown and east through the Pig Route on State Highway 85 in the Maniototo.

Police officers are available 24/7. You can contact them by phoning the local police station where your call will be answered and attended to either by a local staff member, or by Dunedin Central Police Station or the Police Communications Centre, who will pass information on to a local Central Otago police officer to assist if required.
If you wish to call at a police station personally, the public counters at Alexandra and Cromwell police stations are open Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. In the case of an emergency, please phone 111. If you have information you would like to pass on to police anonymously, you can do so by calling the Crime Stoppers line 0800 555 111. ENDS
