An Oasis in the Mountains – Marchburn Country Lodge sits on the floor of the IDA VALLEY offering views of the mountains and ranges wherever you look. The picture windows of Marchburn frame breathtakingly beautiful views from each and every room, and that includes the kitchen. Amazing views EVERYWHERE. The understated exterior of Marchburn Country Lodge belies the sumptuous interior where attention to detail has created a warm and richly textured ambience. The Marchburn Lounge and Library with its riverstone fireplace is the core of the lodge experience. This room is truly special with its collection of art, its library of books, and 2 picture windows onto the 2 highest peaks in the region, Mt St Bathans and Mt Ida. Between the 2 mountains stretch the Hawkdun Range. The lodge features 3 large rooms, each ensuited with a BATH and shower. And each room has french doors opening onto its own patio with lounging chairs from which to enjoy the fabulous light show onto the ranges every afternoon and evening which is a special feature of the IDA VALLEY. The kitchen is full access to our guests day and night, and wine and beer are freely available in the lounge. You truly make this place your own during your stay. Every morning we serve a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals and this is followed by an omelette, bacon and mushrooms. Our menu also caters to gluten free, vegetarian, vegan and other special diets. It is the PEACE and QUIET of Marchburn’s locality that guests most commonly remark upon. The lodge puts you at the centre of activities such as tramping and hiking, flyfishing (guides available), cycling, photography (think Grahame Sydney paintings),sightseeing, sunbathing and relaxing. Dinner is a choice between the Oturehua Railway Hotel and the Wedderburn Tavern and a free shuttle takes you there and brings you home.
