Goldfields Primary School is a decile 8, co-educational state primary school, catering for year 1 to 6 children, which has experienced significant roll growth in recent years. The roll is predicted to exceed 290 in 2016. Most of our children live within walking or biking distance of the school, but children also travel by school bus from the rural areas of Cromwell – Bannockburn, Ripponvale, Lowburn, Pisa Moorings. An enrolment scheme has been in place since 2011. The board continues to prioritise school expenditure to ensure our children have the best possible learning opportunities and environments, with a focus on supporting our diverse range of learners, providing additional staffing, upgrading school facilities, and purchasing up-to-date resources. Ultrafast broad-band was connected in 2014 which has increased the e-learning opportunities for our children.
The high level of building maintenance; numerous school ground developments, including play areas for children; additional classrooms; classroom refurbishment; a community funded school hall; and the development of native garden, vegetable and fruit gardens, are indicative of the forward thinking nature of our school community and their commitment to our children. The school achieved Green-Gold Enviroschools status in 2014, which demonstrates the school’s commitment to empowering children to develop sustainable practices.
