We are a loosely organised group of Old Girls of Southland Girls High School, who meet four times a year for a meal and friendly chat. Our meetings are advertised in the Central Otago News to invite any new comers to the area. We do not keep minutes, but we have a book where we record members present, inward and outward correspondence, and a brief account of our meetings. The school sends us their Newsletter, which contains a letter from the Principal and interesting accounts with photographs of a variety of activities taking place at the school. It reminds us that our school continues to provide an up to date and comprehensive education, with many opportunities in sport and cultural activities, to the girls of today. Members in Rest Homes are collected and brought to meetings, so that they are given an opportunity to socialise with friends. We donate money to school appeals. Our Christmas meeting invites husbands/partners. Occasionally joint meetings with a guest speaker are arranged with the Old Girls groups from Otago Girls and Waitaki Girls.
