Hosted by Bruce and Esmé Macdonald, Lauder School Bed & Breakfast is situated in the charming village of Lauder, deep in the heart of Central Otago. The Lauder School B&B, as shown by our Trip Advisor reviews and Certificate of Excellence, is regarded by many as the most relaxed and comfortable stopover on the Rail Trail. Situated right on the trail in Lauder it makes an ideal first or last night of a Rail Trail adventure or a base for a longer stay to allow exploration of the district, both on and off the Rail Trail. For guests arriving by car, Lauder is on SH85 and only 25 mins to Alexandra or 85 mins to Queenstown and Wanaka.
Lauder School B&B offers a wide range of tastefully restored and new accommodation to suit everyone’s needs, all set in established country gardens. With the capacity to cater for up to 22 guests, we are well situated and equipped to provide quality accommodation for larger cycling groups, family celebrations and wedding parties or solo travellers.
We offer five beautifully-decorated ensuite rooms (Staff Room, Art Room, Library, Drama Cottage and Music Cottage) plus five shared-facilities rooms (The Detention Shed, Sports Shed, Cabin and Play Hut). The hub of the complex is the Common Room & kitchen in the main school building where the classroom once was.
