Clyde Primary School was established in 1862 at the height of the Otago Goldrush. Today it is a six teacher school of 150 pupils catering for children from Year 1 to Year 8. We enjoy close links with our local community and use our outstanding local environment to help make learning exciting and meaningful for our children.
The school is located near the mighty Clutha River and our spacious grounds feature a number of established trees to shade us from the Central Otago sun. The school has a new multipurpose room, IT suite, and library which was offically opened in September 2011.
Clyde Schools motto is ‘Learning for Life’: Akoranga mo ake ake’. Our staff model the belief that learning is for life and are enthusiastic and passionate about the work we do with our children.
During their time at Clyde School children will have the opportunity to establish excellent foundation skills in literacy and numeracy. Children who do not achieve to age expectations are quickly identified and given addition learning support. Our children will have the opportunity to experience a range of exciting and challenging activities outside our classrooms, from summer and snow camps to lake days using the schools kayaks and yachts at nearby Lake Dunstan. We believe extracurricular activities, whether they are in outdoor pursuits, the arts, or sport help to develop a well rounded, confident child.
