Keep Alexandra Clyde Beautiful is an organisation that is affiliated to Keep New Zealand Beautiful. We are a group of volunteers that support litter abatement, beautification and civic pride, at times liaising with CODC, DOC and other community groups. Our group assists with Clean Up New Zealand Week, the Best Street Competition, the hanging baskets in the Golden Block, and the beautification and monitoring of various sites around the Alexandra and Clyde region. Major projects have included the upgrade of Kamaka Walkway and the beautification of the Rail Trail, especially near the old Alexandra Railway Station. Other projects involved the reconstruction of the Alexandra Lookout wall, seating and plantings at the Linger and Die and beautification near the Pump Shed at the Alexandra Bridge. We do facilitate many projects and are not adverse to any weeding, planting or ongoing maintenance as required. Blackmore Park, Alexandra and the Cherry Tree Avenue in Clyde are projects that the group developed in the past that are now maintained by CODC. Our meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month (except for June, July and January) at the Council Offices at 7.30pm. We welcome any new members and contact can be made by phoning Ann Wills, Chairperson.
