Lodge Manuherikia Kilwinning No 109 meets on the third Wednesday in the month with tyling at 7.30pm, in the Lodge room, Tarbert St, Alexandra. Visiting Brethren are welcome.
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal societies which provides a code of living in today’s society based on moral and ethical standards, and unifies men (aged 21 years and older) of high ideals, regardless of colour, creed, or worldly status.
Freemasons strive to live by the fundamental principles of integrity, goodwill, and charity. Freemasonry is a non-profit organisation that is heavily involved in supporting charity and community service.
Lodge meetings contain a business aspect (minutes, accounts, correspondence, and planning for forthcoming events and charity activities) and a ceremonial aspect which involves a series of formalised and symbolic presentations (similar to short plays) that use drama to highlight the codes of conduct by which a Freemason strives to live. The meeting usually concludes with a social period; social activities outside of meetings normally include families and friends.
