Family History, Preserving the Past for the Future Our purpose and aim is to promote interest in the field of Family History through education. To collect and spread genealogical knowledge and information, also to provide support and guidance to all who are endeavouring to research all aspects of their family history. Our Branch collections are housed in the McArthur Room of the Alexandra Public library which is open to the public on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 2-4pm with a member there to assist. We hold a large collection of local information, eg Schools, Cemeteries, Central Otago Family Register, along with micro fiche for IGI (International Genealogical Index 1881) Electoral Rolls, and NZ Birth Deaths & Marriages plus lots of other material. At other times appointments may be made by contacting the Library staff Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month, February - November at 7.30pm in the Alexandra Public Library, visitors always very welcome.
