Come and taste award winning Pinot Noir and St Laurent wines from the Jacobson – Chiaroni family boutique 4.5 hectare vineyard situated at 36 Hillview Road in Alexandra.
Paul, Angela and sons, bee keeper Sam, engineers Tony and William have all worked on the vineyard at various times along with various friends, relatives, students, farm helpers and numerous part time workers from many nationalities.
Paul and Angela's vineyard has predominantly westerly facing slopes with deep fine river sandy soils. First planted in 1998, the first commercial vintage was in 2002. It has 13,000 Pinot Noir vines and 2000 St Laurent vines. In 2009 Judge Rock produced New Zealand’s first St Laurent wine.
Since 2002 Judge Rock Pinot Noir wines have received many accolades including 5 stars from Cuisine, Elite Golds from Air New Zealand Wine Awards and Golds from Decanter World Wide Wine awards.
The Cellar door is open 7 days 11.00am to 5.00 pm all year round. Tastings are set inside or outside weather permitting in the beautiful gardens surrounding the vineyard home.
