Our guest wing is attached to the main house and we are usually in situ to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. There are 2 queen bedrooms with ensuites and a sofa bed in the lounge with kitchenette area.
We are ideally located, being approximately 30 minutes drive from the beautiful lakeside town of Wanaka, 40 minutes from Lake Hawea (gateway to the wild West Coast) and just over an hour from Queenstown. The historical village of Clyde is 25 minutes drive along the lake and is the start of the famous Otago Central Rail Trail. A longer drive will take you through to the rugged Maniototo and you can explore Ophir (the coldest town in NZ), Oturehua, Omakau, the Cambrians and St Bathans (with its stunningly coloured lake and haunted hotel) on the way.
Some of NZ’s best wineries, Old Cromwell Town, Highlands Motorsports Park, lake & goldfield walks, Sunday Markets, Goldfields Jet Boat, old gold mining centre and many more activities are all close by. For those who enjoy a game of golf, head to the Cromwell course. There’s always something on in town, it could be a Cherry Spitting Contest, a country music festival, the Classic Car and Hot Rod Show, an endurance event or motor races.
There are restaurants nearby. The Moorings restaurant is 6 minutes down the road at Pisa Moorings (pizzas or full menu) or pop into town for Mexican, Kebabs, Fish and Chips, Indian or a full menu at Five Stags. Driving 5 minutes further will get you to the Bannockburn Pub and their stunning tapas menu. If you are not in the mood to go out, simply order an evening meal from us, the morning/night before. Our menus are based on what’s in season, but tend to focus on typical NZ dishes e.g. whitebait fritters, roast lamb and seasonal vegetables, maybe finishing off with a raspberry roulade.
